Our Mission

Welcome to the COGENT Systems Research Lab, at the University of Washington. Our research is exploring control engineering theory and the application of control engineering to biomedical problems. This work has primarily been in three areas: (1) stochastic control theory (2) mathematical modeling, system identification and adaptive control theory and applications to regulation of physiological variables, and (3) the development of assistive devices for individuals having physical disabilities. We are developing mathematical tools and theory to better understand the dynamics of biological and biologically-inspired processes and to allow for design, diagnosis and intervention and control.
